The Patagonia Elite series event #2 is completed. 18 teams came out to test their skills and resolve in some of the strangest conditions this series has ever seen. Anglers were greeted by temps in the low 20’s, bluebird skies, cold north winds and snow covered hills. There was actually a sheet of ice in the back of Ash Canyon!! Surprisingly the fishing was not as bad as the conditions. The father son team of Ben & Ray took home the well earned victory again!! Ben and Ray came to the scales with a killer bag 10.40# and the events big fish a beautiful 4.55# monster. Second place was claimed by the team of Dave & Greg. They had a solid limit of 7.29# Right behind them were Chuck & Mike finishing third with 7.20# and the events second big fish a solid 3.35# football.

The Patagonia Elite season is off and running. We had 30 teams show up for the kickoff. Anglers were greeted by surprisingly pleasant weather conditions for this time of year. It was a grind though, with almost a 1/3 of the field not weighing a fish and only 10 limits brought to the scales. Fish were certainly well into their winter hibernation.  The father son team of Ben & Ray took home the well earned victory!! Ben fishing solo came to the scales with an impressive bag of 11.66# capped with a giant 6.39# trout eater. Chip & JP followed in second place with a solid limit weighing 8.35# and third big fish weighing 3.24#. Third place was grabbed Tony & Chris. They had 8.03# and tied for third big fish with 3.24#

The 2018 Patagonia Elite Series has come to an end.  What a season it was. We saw multiple new winners and tons of new teams coming out to join in the fun. Want to give a special thanks to all the anglers that came out to make this series great. We are looking forward to making next year even better. We would also like to thank are great sponsors Tim at ACE hardware for all the great prizes, giveaways, plaques and his world class potato salad that anglers enjoyed after day one in addition to his masterful grilling. It was a welcome treat coming off the water to that feast. We would also like to thank Chip at Vinny’s Pizza for their continued support of our series. They put up $500 cash for the big fish prizes this weekend. When you are in Sierra Vista be sure to stop in and grab a pie or their out of this world wings!!!

Wow!!! Is the only way to describe this weekend’s tough fishing. Anglers were greeted with surprisingly mild conditions, a giant full moon, and what some anglers thought was the beginning of the lake turning over.  On day one the team of Eddie & Brandon came out on top with what turned out to be an impressive bag of 7.84#. Followed by Dave & Shan who had 7.73# and the day 1 big fish a solid 3.65# bass. Third was Ri & Michael with 7.37#.  The top 9 teams were only separated by 2# which made day two even more exciting.  Everyone had a shot at the win!

Day 2 would prove to be even tougher than the first. Weights dropped off again for most of the field, but one team found them. Gabe & Ryan cracked the code and brought in a monster bag weighing 11.84# with an enormous big fish weighing 5.22#. It was the icing on the cake for their impressive season in which they also claimed the AOY title.  Big Congrats to both anglers on being consistent all season long. Second place was taken by one of the original creators of this series Ri & his son Michael. They put together two consistent days and finished just short of the win. Making a day two charge was the team of Chip & JP. They brought the day 2 second biggest bag to the scales and moved up the ranks to finish third.

Stay tuned for the new schedule to come out for the 2019 season. Until then tight lines to all.

Patagonia Elite Results 10/6

The final event of the 2018 season is in the books! Championship spots were on the line with teams on the bubble to get in and the AOY race still undecided. 19 Teams took to the water Saturday greeted by some cool weather and high winds. Reports were mixed as some teams reported catching lots of fish while others struggled to put a limit in the boat. After the dust settled some monster bags were brought to the scales and the team of Chris & Luis rose to the top with a killer bag of 16.10#. It was anchored by two giant bass the biggest being 6.98# which was also the biggest of the event. Close behind them was the wife/husband team of Wheatbread & Anna. They had 13.03# and the events second biggest fish a healthy 5.79# bruiser. Rounding out the top 3 was the familiar team of Patrick & Marty. Patrick fishing solo loaded his live well with an impressive 12.49#

Congratulations to Gabe & Ryan on claiming the AOY title. They battled hard all year and fought off a few late charges to take the crown. What a season!! Congrats guys on being the best team this season.
